Why is it that our generation seems to be enable to produce good music anymore? I mean of course there are good musicians out there, but why is it that the crap we play on the radio is what defines our time? What happened to creating classics? Where are the Beatles? or the Michael Jacksons? or the Kurt Cobains of our time? I don’t want our generation to be remembered in music history for emotionless lyrics with electronic shit that’s main purpose was for people to be able to dance in clubs. I don’t want to be defined by songs like ‘pussy monster’ or ‘down’ or any other garbage that has no true meaning. I want music that has real meaning. Songs that people can relate to. Songs that not only portray but create emotion. I don’t want the only ‘emotional’ music to be by artists that are too young to even know what love is. Justin Beiber, you’ve never been in love, neither have you Miley, or Nick Jonas. I want the phrase ‘like music to my ears’ to be a positive saying once again.
“If I told you things I did before, told you how I used to be
Would you go along with someone like me?
If you knew my story word for word, had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?”—Peter Bjorn & John
“So I swim for all salvation and I swim to save my soul
But my soul is just a whisper trapped inside a tornado
So I flip to my back and I float and I sing
I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everythin”—I like Giants; Kimya Dawson
“At some point you will realize that you have done too much for someone or something, that the only next possible step to do is to stop. Leave them alone. Walk away. It’s not like you’re giving up, & it’s not like you shouldn’t try. It’s just that you have to draw the line of determination from desperation. What is truly yours would eventually be yours, & what is not, no matter how hard you try, will never be.”—turn around bright eyes:
